Conventional drains allow harmful germs, sewer gases and disease carrying insects to enter bathrooms and other wet areas in homes and commercial buildings. Lack of maintenance allows floor drains serving bathroom /toilet areas to become dry. When the drains dry out, sewer gas can also escape from the drains.
